Dave Goeller
Dave received both his Bachelors degree in Agricultural Economics and Agronomy and his Masters degree in Adult Education, from the University of Nebraska. He began his career at UNL in 1984 and has worked in the area of Farm Management education, most notably associated with Extension Education programs such as Managing for Tomorrow, Decisions Now, Returning to the Farm and Winning the Game. Recently Dave has focused his efforts in the area of Farm and Ranch Business Succession and Estate Planning. He joined the Center as the Assistant Director in 2006.
Dave, a former University of Nebraska football player and his high-school sweet heart Cindy, are involved with the family farming operation in Northeast Nebraska, where they raise corn and soybeans. They have three grown children, Matt, Sarah, and Rachel and three grandchildren.

Alissa Randall
Alissa was born and raised in Lincoln. She graduated from Brigham Young University in 2006 with a bachelor’s of science in Marriage, Family and Human Development. She joined the North Central Center staff in 2007 and is responsible for coordinating the grants from the application phase, through invoicing and reporting to completion.
Alissa also works in the shoe department of a local department store on the weekends, a job that she has worked at off and on since 2002. Her favorite part of her job is when she gets to try on shoes in order to gain product knowledge to better assist her customers.
She is soon to be married at the end of May to Victory Haines, a former Husker football player and recent graduate from UNL in Math Education.

Cheryl Griffith
Cheryl received her BS from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in Advertising and Public Relations and is currently working on a MS in Organizational Leadership. A Lincoln native, she grew up a city girl but spent the better part of 25 years living and working in rural southwest Nebraska, learning about agriculture firsthand. Before moving back to Lincoln she was the Information and Education Coordinator for the Middle Republican Natural Resources District in Curtis, NE. Cheryl came to the North Central RME Center in 2005 and is primarily responsible for the promotion and publicity of the Center.
Along with Doug Jose, Cheryl is also involved with Market Journal, a weekly TV program produced at the University of Nebraska. Market Journal, http://marketjournal.unl.edu, focuses on practical risk management strategies for ag producers.
In her spare time Cheryl teaches dog agility and competes around the midwest with her Shetland sheepdog, Wylie. Cheryl and her husband Dave live in Lincoln and have a daughter Alison, who is a college student.

Rain & Hail, LLC is an employee owned company located in Johnston, Iowa; doing business throughout the United States and Canada.
Luke was raised on a cow/calf and row crop farm in central Iowa. He earned his BS from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa and has been with Rain & Hail LLC since 2002. In his spare time, Luke enjoys a variety of outdoor sports and activities and lives in West Des Moines, Iowa.
Luke joined the NCRME Center Advisory Council in 2008.

Steve Edwardson
Steve currently serves as Executive Administrator of the North Dakota Barley Council, a position which he has held since April 2004. The North Dakota Barley Council is a check-off organization representing the barley growers of North Dakota, with projects focusing on variety development, improved crop insurance, and market expansion.
Prior to his tenure with the Barley Council, Steve worked in the underwriting department of Watts & Associates, a private insurance developer in Billings, Montana. Steve also served for 12 years as vice president of research and development for Minn-Dak Growers Ltd., a specialty crop company in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Prior to Minn-Dak, he worked for the NDSU extension service as an assistant county extension agent and farm management specialist.
Steve holds bachelor and master of science degrees in agricultural mechanization from the department of agricultural engineering at North Dakota State University, with minors in agricultural economics and statistics. Steve was raised on a small grains farm near Carrington, North Dakota, and actively managed the operation for several years.
Steve, his wife Diane, and daughters Olivia and Megan live in Fargo.

Kathy Gilbertson
Kathy Gilbertson is a Senior Risk Management Specialist (SRMS) with the Billings Regional Office, Risk Management Agency (RMA), USDA, which provides services to the states of Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, and South Dakota. She has been with RMA since 1982 rising within the ranks to her current position, which she has held for seven years. Prior to becoming a SRMS she was Program Services Branch Chief and an Area Claims Specialist. In her current position, her duties include but are not limited to being the Large Claims Coordinator, the Risk Management Education Coordinator, and the Outreach Coordinator for the Billings Region.
Kathy is a believer in the value of on-the-job education and experience. Kathy and her husband farmed in Northeastern Montana from 1970 to 1993. In 1993, they moved to Billings when Kathy accepted a position in the Billings Regional Office. During that time, her husband received a successful heart transplant. They now spend their “off” time remodeling their home.
Kathy has three children and spends her spare time spoiling her eight grandchildren.
Kathy joined the NCRME Center Advisory Council in 2007.

Doris Herringshaw
Doris I Herringshaw, is an associate professor and Extension Educator , Family and Consumer Science and Community Development with Ohio State University Extension in Wood County Ohio.
In the area of agriculture she has served as the chair of a Northwest Ohio Women in Agriculture program for 15 years. Recently this committee coordinated efforts for farm couples and individuals take educational trips to Chicago Board of Trade, Washington D.C., and St Louis. In a collaborative effort Annie’s Projects has been offered eight times in Ohio.
As an executive board member of the Chamber of Commerce, she along with colleagues have marketed the industry through the addition of an ag session at the career day, implemented an agricultural day for the adult Bowling Green Leadership class and a day for the Youth Leadership class which includes visits to farms, ag businesses and a lunch featuring local products.
She and her husband own and operate farmland in Northwest Ohio. They have two children in college agricultural programs. She enjoys piecing quilts, the out of doors, and college sports
Doris joined the North Central RME Council in 2006.

Richard Porter
Richard Porter is the owner/operator of Porter Cattle Company located near Reading, Kansas. Operating about 14,000 acres, Rich runs approximately 8,000 head of cattle and grows corn and soybeans. The calves arrive at 350 lbs. and leave as finished cattle. Rich reports that after 29 years in his current position he is still waiting for a promotion!
Richard earned a BS in chemical engineering and MS in agribusiness from Kansas State University as well as a juris doctorate from Southern Methodist University. Growing up on a farm in Kansas he vowed never to return and headed for the corporate world. He soon realized the corporate world wasn’t for him and returned to earn a living from the farm.
Richard and his wife Sarah have three children; Ryan, Eric and Ruth. Ryan and Eric are in the computer business on the west coast and Ruth is an aspiring physical therapist. Sarah spends her days as a systems programmer. Rich can be found riding in the pickup with his trusty companion Mac, a rescue dog.
Richard joined the NCRME Center Advisory Council in 2006.

Chris Shellenbarger
Chris Shellenbarger is a crop insurance agent for Spartan Insurance Agency LLC serving Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana. Chris covers the southwest area of Michigan, the most highly diversified area of the state. Her goal is to make producers aware of the options they have when analyzing crop insurance and finding the product that fits best with their risk management needs. Some of this is achieved by working with Michigan State University Extension, local FSA offices, grain marketers and agricultural lenders.
Chris was raised on a dairy farm and now resides on that farm in Clarksville, MI . She has a degree in Business Management. Prior to joining Spartan Insurance in 1991, she worked as a loan officer for the Farm Credit System and in the Risk Management division of Farm Bureau Services.
She and her husband, Steve, have four grown children. In their spare time they raise Belgian draft horses and help with the family beef farm.
Chris has been a member of the NCRME Advisory Council since 2005.

Kelly Smith
Kelly Smith is the Director of Marketing and Commodities for Missouri Farm Bureau. His responsibilities include providing market information to members thru MFB's website and in meetings across the state, serving as Farm Bureau's liaison to state commodity and merchandising council organizations, a member of MFB's legislative team and is the staff advisor to the 9th District Farm PAC.
Smith grew up on a cattle, hog and crop farm in northeast Missouri. He attended the University of Missouri where he received a B.S. in Agricultural Economics. After college Kelly was involved in the family farming operation for 12 years before beginning his career with Farm Bureau. He has worked with Farm Bureau for 22 years.
Kelly and his wife, Peggy, live in Jefferson City. They have three grown children. The Smith's enjoy outdoor activities including getting back to their farms as often as possible, flower and herb gardening, hunting, and fishing. Other interests include antiques, teaching cooking with herb classes and wool rug hooking.
Kelly has been a member of the Advisory Council since 2006.

Kevin Klair has been an Extension Economist at the Center for Farm Financial Management in the Department of Applied Economics at the University of Minnesota since 1987. He has more than 20 years of experience in teaching farm business management and developing farm financial management software programs.
Kevin helped develop the FINPACK farm financial planning and analysis software, as well as Marketeer market planning software and the FINPACK Business Plan software programs. Kevin was involved in the development of the online National Ag Risk Education Library and serves as a national coordinator for Extension Risk Management Education.
